You and Me Against the World

Helen Reddy

(Tell me again Mommy...)

You and me against the world
Sometimes it feels like you and me against the world
When all the others turn their backs and walk away,
you can count on me to stay.

Remember when the circus came to town...
and you were frightened by the clown,
wasn't it nice to be around someone that you knew?
Someone who was big and strong and looking out for

You and me against the world
Sometimes it feels like you and me against the world
and for all the times we cried,
I always felt that God was on our side

And when one of us is gone,
and one of us is left to carry on
Then remembering will have to do
Our memories alone will get us through
Think about the days of me and you,
You and me against the World

And when one of us is gone,
and one of us is left to carry on
Then remembering will have to do...
Our memories alone will get us through

Think about the days of me and you...
You and me against the world

(I love you Mommy....)
(I love you too Baby.)

Notes

"You and Me Against the World" was a #9 hit in 1974 for Helen Reddy. She has had three #1 hits, "I Am Woman," which won a Grammy Award, "Delta Dawn," and "Angie Baby."

"You and Me Against the World" was written by Kenneth Ascher and Paul Williams. Reddy’s daughter, Traci, has a couple of spoken lines on the recording.

Helen Reddy was born in Australia and started performing with her parents at age four. She won a television talent contest in Australia and moved to America to win a recording contract. However, 27 record labels rejected her recordings before she was signed by Capitol Records in 1970.

The first recording that Helen Reddy made for Capitol, a single version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s, "I Don’t Know How To Love Him," reached #14 on the charts. It was Webber’s first hit also.
