Peggy Lee’s version is the most famous version of “Fever” and dates from 1958, but it was first recorded in 1937 by blues singer Little Willie John.
“Fever” was written by Otis Blackwell and Eddie Cooley, but Blackwell credited it to his stepfather, John Davenport, because he was concerned that he wouldn’t get royalties otherwise.
